Wear what they wore in Revolutionary times
Children can try on reproduction clothing – 1780s style. Boys and girls can try on a variety of garments, including a soldier's regimental coat and tricorn hat, shirts, breeches, waistcoats, shifts, petticoats, short gowns and aprons. The Yorktown Battlefield offers several special programs for younger visitors

Learn about the rugged men and women who make their living on the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers
 
Known as "watermen", they hand down skills learned by observing water, climate, and wildlife while working on boats; younger generations learn unchanging maritime traditions from their elders. The Watermen's Museum offers scavenger hunts, geocaching activities, a Pirate Camp, and more.  Teachers and Home-schoolers can contact the Education Department for a program tailored to children's needs.   Experience an 18th Century Farm and Continental Army Encampment
Families can explore a soldiers’ living quarters, visit the camp surgeon’s tent, see how soldiers prepared meals, and join an artillery crew. Practice breaking flax or lend a hand pulling weeds, watering plants, and harvesting crops in the garden of a 1780s farm. Indoor gallery exhibits also feature display panels at a child’s eye level that ask thought-provoking questions about life - then and now.
