17th Annual "Shop with a Sheriff"

17th Annual Shop with a Sheriff

On 12-15-18 Sheriff Diggs, Chief Deputy, Major Montgomery and about 50 other YPSO deputies had the pleasure of taking over 80 deserving kids shopping during our 17th annual Shop With A Sheriff Christmas event! This event was held at the Tabb K-Mart. The kids got to shop with the deputies, visit with Santa and many won awesome prizes at the end of the event. We had many gift cards donated to give away! One lucky boy and girl won a bike and bike safety gear! Chick-fil-A donated 100 chicken biscuits and Deputy Jason Patch paid for another 150 biscuits. No one left hungry! This was an awesome day! Sheriff Diggs said “ It is important to give back to the community that is so good to us! What better way to do so, then helping kids and families at Christmas? We hope to inspire kids to realize that we are always here to help them!” York County and Poquoson kids were picked with the help of the schools and by deputy referrals. The SWS program could not be possible without the generous support of local businesses and citizen donations. (We take donations year round) The Deputies and civilian volunteers all participated without any compensation, other than the reward of helping others. We would like to thank all the Deputies, volunteers and people who donated! We would also like to thank K-Mart for doing such a great job hosting this experience! #WMBGkind
