AED Management Program
Allows staff to track and manage the AEDs placed in our community, which helps us know that the equipment is functioning properly. This is done through the integration of the PulsePoint app and the County’s LifeNet program. Read the full submission.
Fire Academy Collaboration with York County, Virginia’s Fitness Ambassador
This program involves Body by D Gym owner/operator D’Shawn Wright who works with firefighter entry level recruits in training to improve their physical fitness ability to exceed the standards set by the academy. Read the full submission.
The Peninsula COVID-19 Operations Center
A regional effort by the six fire and EMS governmental agencies and served as a collection point for COVID-19 related concerns and provided daily operational updates to all peninsula localities. The Operations Center expanded to include representatives of many other organizations including the Health Department, hospitals, local military partners, Peninsula EMS Council, and others that served as in person roles providing immediate access and collaboration for the region. For the second consecutive year, the Center for Digital Government, which recognizes the best technology practices among U.S. counties, ranked York County 7th in the category of localities with a population up to 150,000.
The Peninsula EMS Council recently announced that the Operation Vaccinate the Peninsula multi-jurisdictional partnership – which includes York County – is the winner of the 2021 PEMS Special Recognition Award.
At the July 20, 2021 Board of Supervisors meeting, York County was presented with the Greater Williamsburg Business Alliance’s Roll of the Drum Award for our pandemic response. This award was also presented to our Historic Triangle partners – Williamsburg and James City County.
