The Treasurer is a Constitutional Officer and is elected every four years. The Treasurer is responsible for collecting and accounting for all revenues received by York County.
The Treasurer’s Office responsibilities and duties include issuing tax bills, collecting taxes, processing utility bill payments, accounting for county revenues, and investing funds. Additionally, the office collects delinquent taxes, administers dog licenses, collects some state revenues, and submits funds to unclaimed property. All disbursements for the county, approved by the Finance Director, originate in the Treasurer’s Office.
The York County Treasurer's Office is accredited through the Treasurers' Association of Virginia (TAV).
The York County Board of Supervisors sets tax rates yearly in May. Semi-annual personal property tax bills and real estate tax bills are due on June 25 and December 5 each year.
