2019 Summer Reading Programs
The York County Public Library offers summer reading programs for infants/toddlers, children, teens, and adults from June 24 to Aug. 2, 2019. The Library offers special events, performances, movies, story times and prizes. All programs are free of charge and open to everyone. Registration is not required to attend programs. Registration is required to participate in the reading programs and to be eligible for prizes.
2019 Infant & Toddler Summer Reading Program
Join the Rock-A-Bye Readers, a summer reading club for infants and toddlers from birth to 24-months-old. Online registration begins June 10 at 10 a.m. and continues through July 29. Register in person at the Tabb or Yorktown Library beginning June 17. Download your activity log, or stop by the library to pick up one. Complete and check off activities in any order. Turn in your completed activity log at your registration library between June 24 and Aug. 9 to receive a new board book for your child.

2019 Children's Summer Reading Program
Showtime at Your Library! is the theme for the 2019 Summer Reading Program for children ages 2-12. Read books, see spectacular live performances, and enjoy programs and activities for all ages! Access the programming calendar.
- Online registration begins June 10 and continues through July 5. You can also register in person at the Youth Services desk beginning June 17 through July 29.
- Reading logs will be available at the library beginning June 17. Use your reading log to record the number of books or hours you've read. After reaching a reading goal, present your reading log at the library and receive a reward. Reading rewards are available June 24 through Aug. 9.

2019 Teen Summer Reading Program
It's Showtime at Your Library! for teens, ages 13-18. Join us and play Teen Summer Reading Bingo! Pick up your bingo card at the Reference desk at the Tabb and Yorktown Libraries beginning June 17.
Make plans to attend Teen Challenge Events, too. Teen Challenges begin at 2 p.m. at the Yorktown Library with Games of Skill on June 24, Craft-a-palooza on July 15, and Teen-Trivia on July 29. Teen Challenges begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Tabb Library with Craft-a-palooza on June 26, Teen Trivia on July 10, and Hampton Roads Droid Builders on July 24. Hampton Roads Droid Builders will be demonstrating their fantastic robotic creations, and then teens will be challenged to build a shell for Sphero with recycled materials.
2019 Adult Summer Reading Program
Summer reading isn’t just for the kids! Don’t miss It’s Showtime @ Your Library!, running June 24 through Aug. 2! Registration is easy: Just pick up a Bingo Card at either the Tabb or Yorktown Library adult reference desk. Complete tasks to win tickets for our grand prizes. Tasks include reading books, attending any library program (including our featured programs) and trying out the digital tools you can access for free with your library card. To get a bonus prize, turn in completed bingo cards by Aug. 7. Winners for all adult prizes will be announced on Aug. 9. For more information, call 757-890-5120 or 757-890-5207.
Featured Adult Programs
Showtime Trivia Night, 7-8 p.m. July 10, Tabb Library
Test your knowledge of movies, music and more at our Showtime Trivia Night! This free event is for ages 18 and up. Light refreshments will be available and prizes will be awarded. Registration is required.
Summer Concert with Lana Puckett & Kim Person, 7-8 p.m. July 11, Yorktown Library
Join us at the Yorktown Library for a special show featuring Lana Puckett and Kim Person. This popular, local two-woman band will play a mix of their original folk music and popular covers, combining their unique vocal styles and a variety of musical instruments. Light refreshments will be provided.
Tabb Book Readers, 1:30-2:45 p.m. July 20, Tabb Library
The Tabb Book Readers (TBR) is an adult book discussion group that meets from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month at the Tabb Library. At the July meeting, members will read a book that has been adapted into a movie or television show. New members are always welcome. Please register by July 19.
