Program Notes: Experiencing Japan with Tabb Book Readers

The Tabb Book Readers gathered last weekend to discuss what they discovered about Japanese Culture from the books they read this month. They also enjoyed green tea and Japanese treats. 

Tabb Book Readers LogoFor the March meeting, attendees could read any fiction or non-fiction title, as long as it touched on Japanese culture in some way.

Program Notes: Reading Mysteries with Tabb Book Readers

Book enthusiasts gathered at the Tabb Library this weekend for the inaugural meeting of the Tabb Book Readers, a new library book club that encourages participants to stretch their horizons and share the books they discover on their journey.

Tabb Book Readers LogoFor the February meeting, attendees could read anything they wished as long as it featured a mystery or a crime. Some chose more traditional mysteries, while others dived in to true crime or psychological thrillers with a mystery bent.

TBR members agreed that a well-developed puzzle and believable characters were the keys to a great mystery. Couldn't make the meeting but want some recommendations from group? Check out what the TBR read in February below.

Program Notes: Seed Starting with Master Gardeners

Seeds were provided for free from the Virginia Cooperative Extension and the York County Master GardMaster Gardener Nate Brauner presented on the basics of seed starting to a group of 42 garden enthusiasts of all ages at the Tabb Library on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019. After the presentation, Master Gardener volunteers helped attendees create small pots from newspaper and toilet rolls. Participants were able to choose from a variety of vegetable, herb and flower seeds to plant in their pots. The materials were provided for free from the Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners.

The event was part of a yearlong library series called Mastering Your Garden, which is being held at the Tabb and Yorktown Libraries. The series is a partnership between York County Public Library, Virginia Cooperative Extension and the York County Master Gardeners. All events in the series are free for anyone to attend.
