Title: Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Reviewer: Blain H.
Rating: 5 Stars

Lord of the Flies coverLord of the Flies is a novel about a group of young boys who get stranded on a remote, deserted island. After realizing that there are “no grownups!”, a boy named Ralph appoints himself as leader. He finds a conch shell and blows into it, and it makes a loud, powerful sound that draws the rest of the boys to him. When they all get to Ralph, he announces that he is leader. Up on the “stage” with him is his friend Piggy, who he met shortly after arriving on the island. As more and more boys gather around Ralph, we also meet a boy named Jack who is in charge of a group of choir boys also stranded on the island. Another boy on the island’s name is Simon, and he may seem insignificant when he is first introduced, but he will play a big role in the book later.

Teens Review: Killing November

Title: Killing November by Adriana Mather
Reviewer: Phoebe S.
Rating: 3 Stars

Killing November Book CoverKilling November, by Adriana Mather, was an okay book. It wasn’t what I thought the book would be about and it didn’t have a very unique storyline. It is about teen named November, who was sent to a secret spy school by her father. The location is a secret to everyone, there is no way to contact the outside world, and you aren’t allowed to tell anyone anything from your personal life. I read this book thinking it would be about a spy school because I really enjoy those kinds of books. Although it was about that, it wasn’t the focus of the plot. In the end, it was a murder mystery, which wasn’t a bad thing but it wasn’t what I originally thought the book was going to be about. To read more of this review, click on "Continue Reading...".
