 #1 Spring Soccer Registration 

Spring Soccer Registration will be from January 2 through January 31.  All leagues are coed and are organized as follows: 6 and Under (6U), 8 and Under (8U), 10 and Under (10U), 12 and Under (12U), 15 and Under (15U), and 18 and Under (18U).  Register online or in person.

 #2 Diabetes Self-Management Workshop

Diabetes Self-Management Workshop Offered - This free six-week program includes materials and will be held at the Senior Center of York on Tuesdays, beginning January 28 through March 3 from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The Diabetes Self-Management Program was devised through research performed by the School of Medicine at Stanford University and is being offered at no cost to participants. Sessions are interactive and teach the skills needed for day to day management of diabetes. Information on preventing complications, menu planning, monitoring blood sugar levels, stress, exercise and relaxation are just a few of the topics that will be covered. The companion book, Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions accompanies and supplements the material presented in the workshop. The program is co-sponsored by the Peninsula Agency on Aging and York County Parks and Recreation. The Senior Center of York is located at 5314 George Washington Memorial Highway, Yorktown. For more information and to register, please call the Senior Center at 890-3444 by January 23.

 #3 EVMA Night Rides

EVMA Night Rides - Every Wednesday night from 6-8 pm at New Quarter Park, join the Eastern Virginia Mountain Bike Association on a weekly night ride. All riders must have 2 lights, helmets, appropriate gear for the weather and must be EVMA members (insurance requirement).  No one is allowed to ride alone.  All riders MUST be out of the parks by 8:00 PM.  #4 Winter Adult Fitness Classes

Winter Adult Fitness Classes - Want to start off the New Year in the right direction?  Then these classes are for you!  We are offering a variety of classes such as, Interval Training, Hi/Lo Combo, Strength Training, Yoga Fusion Flow, Yoga, and Dance HIIT Fusion. Classes are offered at Grafton Bethel Elementary or Seaford Elementary. York County Resident fee is only $40 for the winter session: January 6 through March 28. Please click here for specific class dates and times.

 #5 Culture Day

Culture Day, "Influential Women," January 29, at 1 pm In honor of the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage, Assistant Professor Watson (right) of Hampton University will speak on this topic and the impact it has made on our country. Professor Watson will discuss the influential women such as Harriet Tubman, Susan B. Anthony, Lucretia Mott, and more who helped to shape this movement while also working through challenges to improve race relations. For more information and to register, please call the Senior Center at 890-3444 or register online by January 27.
