Nominations for the 2020 awards will be accepted until 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, by Parks and Recreation. Nominees must be residents of York County currently enrolled in grades 9-12 in a public, private, or homeschool. A $1,000 post high school educational or vocational scholarship will be given in each of these categories: Community Service, Compassion, Courage, and Overall Achievement. The four award recipients will be formally recognized with their families and nominators at a May 19 dinner reception in their honor and at the Board of Supervisors meeting immediately following. In addition, the Board of Supervisors will send a letter and certificate in late April to all nominees to congratulate them on their nomination and inform them of their nominator. Let's celebrate some of the Good News about so many of our wonderful high school aged citizens! For program details and nomination forms, visit the Youth Commission's website at www.ycyc.info. For questions regarding this program, please call the Parks and Recreation office at 890-3500.
