Board Seeks Applicants for Youth Commission & Chesapeake Bay Board

Students interested in serving on the York County Youth Commission (YCYC) for the 2020-2021 school year are asked to submit an application packet by Monday, March 10 (a 20-day extension from the previous deadline of March 10). The YCYC is a 15-member, student-led group from across the county whose main purpose is to represent youth-related needs and concerns to the Board of Supervisors and school officials. Members conduct student surveys, sponsor annual Town Hall meetings in the high schools, perform community service, build leadership skills, and more.
Application forms and program details are available at www.ycyc.info. The application form, short essay, and a letter of recommendation must be received in the Parks and Recreation office by March 30.

York County is also seeking applicants for the Chesapeake Bay Board, a body of citizens that ensures that development in the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area is undertaken in a deliberate and responsible manner in accordance with regulations. The Board is made up of seven members (one from each voting district and two at-large members) and has two alternate members. Applicants are needed for voting districts 1, 4, and 5.
