York County leadership continues monitoring the COVID-19 crisis and updating our website with the latest information from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and other organizations. As soon as the severity of the virus spread became known, I put together an internal task force and they are meeting regularly, following the latest guidance, and keeping us informed. I continue to stay in contact with our regional partners and remain prepared to take action as needed. The time has come to take preventative measures. With the support of the Senior Center Advisory Board, I am suspending all programs and events at the Senior Center for a period of 30 days, beginning Monday, March 16, subject to modifications as events warrant. We believe this is the most prudent decision based on early experience in other parts of the country that have had community spread of the coronavirus.

Our Parks & Recreation staff are working to reschedule events and programs. All of that information, as available, will be on our website - www.yorkcounty.gov.

We remain vigilant in doing whatever we can to protect our citizens and workforce and ask that you join us by redoubling your efforts to keep our community safe.

Thank you and be well -

Neil
