Hello All,
Research shows that exercise positively affects the immune system and your mood. And so does soaking up Vitamin D outside in the sunshine. You can have fun in the sun and follow proper guidance on the Use of Parks and Open Space While Maintaining Social Distancing at the same time! Here are a few pics of people staying active while following proper social distancing guidelines. Look! The dog is doing it too. Share these pics or post some of your own on social media and encourage others to enjoy our parks in a safe manner. Be sure to tag your photos with #PhysicalDistancingInParks. And remember, six feet apart is smart. Here's some great news...New Quarter Park is now open 7 days a week from 8am until dusk Please remember : - Since we are unable to host programs and shelter reservations through June 10th, we will be adjusting our schedule to try to reschedule those programs as we are able.
- Staff on duty will open the park and restrooms, but the park office will not be open to the public.
- The disc golf course is still open and is free of charge to play during this time period.
- With the office closed, be sure to bring plenty of water with you.
- The water from faucets and spigots is non-potable (untreated) and not safe to drink.
Patrons may still call the park office at 757-890-5840 or the staff cellphone (please do not text) at 757-812-5589 during park hours. Please stay safe and see you at the park, Michael Wilcox
NOTE: For weather related cancellations, please call our RainoutLine at 757-890-3501 and use extension 35 for events, extension 34 for the disc golf course, or extension 33 for trails at New Quarter Park. You may also visit our RainoutLine webpage.
