VPPSA Compost Facility Reopening May 4
The VPPSA Compost Facility, closed to the public since April 3, will reopen Monday, May 4 for material sales and yard debris drop-off of limbs/branches and clear bags of natural yard waste. The facility, located at 145 Goodwin Neck Road (York County Waste Management Center), will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and will accept credit cards or commercial accounts for payment (no cash or checks). A credit card device will be available for customers to use when purchasing compost, mulch, and soil blends. Pricing is available at www.VPPSA.org.
Since the April 3 closure, York County staff have been assisting citizens with the drop-off of yard debris at a separate location at the Waste Management Center. County staff have been transporting the debris to the VPPSA Compost Facility, where it is being composted and/or mulched.
Citizens may still utilize the County's curbside yard debris collection program by calling (757) 890-3780 or through our online Customer Service Request. Please see our Yard Debris Collection webpage for details/restrictions on curbside yard debris collection -www.yorkcounty.gov/wastemanagement.
