Residents are advised to shelter at home; Offices/Courts closed Tuesday; Board of Supervisors meeting cancelled
In anticipation of the effects of Tropical Storm Isaias, York County declared a local emergency at 9 a.m. this morning. This allows the County to begin emergency preparations for the storm.
York County is not opening an evacuation shelter at this time. Residents are advised to shelter at home and to avoid travel, if possible. In addition, the following actions have been taken:
- York County offices and courts are closed Tuesday. The reopening of the Tabb and Yorktown Libraries has been rescheduled for Wednesday, August 5.
- York County is opening two parking lots where residents may take their boats, trailers, campers, and other vehicles: The McReynolds Athletic Complex (MAC), 412 Sports Way, and Chisman Creek Park, 1314 Wolf Trap Road
- Trash and recycling collections scheduled for Tuesday have been cancelled.
- The August 4 Board of Supervisors’ work session has been cancelled.
