New Quarter Park

Come to New Quarter Park

Hello All,

Fall is officially here! We have a great line up of programs coming this month:

October 17 – Stories By the Fire 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. - Join us at the New Quarter Parks fire circle for some family friendly scary stories and s’mores. The evening will begin with s’mores from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., followed by an hour of stories. Professional Storyteller Anthony Burcher will paint us vivid scenes of far off places and adventures. He will tell lots of bizarre folk tales, infectiously silly tales and the occasional spooky tale. You never know what is coming out of his mouth next, but it is always family friendly fun. For more information on Anthony you can visit his website at www.anthonyburcher.com. For more information or to register, please visit our website at www.yorkcounty.gov/parksandrec. Seats are limited for this FREE program. Masks are required.

October 24 – Pumpkin Carving and Treat Trails – 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Families can walk down select hiking trails to collect treats with their children. Modifications have been made to this program such as social distancing, hand sanitizer, staff wearing face masks, etc. After finishing the trails, your child may choose a pumpkin from our pumpkin patch to take over to our carving station! Each family will have their own table to ensure social distancing from others. The fee is $10 for your first child, which includes a pumpkin, and $5 for per each additional child in your household. An additional pumpkin may be purchased for $5 when you register.  For more details, feel free to call the park office. Please register online at www.yorkcounty.gov/parksandrec. Space is limited.

October 30 – Movie in the Park – 15 minutes after sunset (roughly 6:30 p.m.) – This will be our last movie this year so don’t miss this free opportunity! We will be showing “Monsters University” (G). Synopsis: Ever since he was a kid monster, Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) has dreamed of becoming a Scarer. To make his dream a reality, he enrolls at Monsters University. During his first semester, he meets Sulley (John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. Sulley and Mike engage in a fierce rivalry that ultimately gets them both kicked out of MU's elite Scare Program. To make things right, Mike and Sulley -- along with a bunch of misfit monsters -- will have to learn to work together.

See you at the park,
Michael Wilcox
Recreation Supervisor I
