York County COVID-19 Helpline to Suspend Services Today, March 2
March 2, 2021
York County’s COVID-19 Helpline (890-5890) is closing at 5 p.m. today. The number of callers seeking assistance has declined significantly following the launch of the Vaccinate Virginia phone line and website, as well as the increase in vaccination availability.
Since opening on February 1, the York County COVID-19 Helpline has answered 2,500 calls and helped register approximately 1,800 citizens aged 65 and up. While the majority of callers were York County residents, several individuals from throughout Hampton Roads were helped by County employees manning the phones.
Citizens needing assistance are being referred to the Vaccinate Virginia phone line, 1-877-VAX-IN-VA (1-877-829-4682), available seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Vaccinate Virginia website can be accessed anytime: vaccinate.virginia.gov.
