New Quarter Park

Come to New Quarter Park

Hello All,

Annual Resilience week will be from May 2-8. York County Parks and Recreation will have several programs in celebration of the week. New Quarter Park will be hosting a FREE Drum Circle on Thursday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. Local Master Naturalist, Yoga Instructor, and Drum Circle Facilitator Madeline Vann will lead the group in a relaxing drum session to get in touch with the rhythm of nature. You can bring your own percussion instrument or Madeline will have a select number for you to use. Registration is accepted until May 4 or all spaces are filled.

The first race of the Weekend on Your Wheel Youth Bike Race Series is this Sunday! Kids ages 3 to 18 can register to race at our park’s specially designed mountain bike trail for children. The fee for the series is $25 per child or $10 for a single race day. All participants will receive a number plate for their bikes. Race days are as followed: Race #1 April 25, Race #2 May 2, Race #3 May 8.  Rain date May 16. Registration open online up to 2 days before the race date.

Our next Movie in the Park will be Trolls World Tour on Saturday, May 1. Branch and Poppy come across six tribes of trolls, each practicing different styles of music. It is then up to the duo to untie and protect the other kingdoms of trolls when their musical styles are threatened by the sinister heavy metal couple King Trash and Queen Barb. The movie begins roughly 15 minutes after sunset. Concessions will be available for purchase during the movie. Please bring a blanket and/or chair(s).

Sunset Kayaking Tour being offered on Thursday, May 12 at 7 p.m.  This is a great beginner kayaking program. We will go over basic paddling techniques and safety, then paddle down the beautiful Queens Creek to enjoy the sunset on the water. The fee is $25 per person. Must be 13 years or older (13 to 17-year-olds must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Registration open until May 5 or when spaces are filled.

Please register online by visiting our website at www.yorkcounty.gov/parksandrec. All our programs are modified to ensure we recreate responsibly and meet current Virginia phased guidelines as well as executive orders.

See you at the park,
