 #1 Movie in the Park - McReynolds Athletic Complex 

Frozen II

Join us Saturday, August 14 at the McReynolds Athletic Complex for the showing of Frozen II (2019) (PG) 103 minutes. Telsa and the Snow Queen and her sister Anna embark on an adventure far away from the kingdom of Arendelle. They are joined by friends, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven. Movies begin roughly 15 minutes after sunset. Free popcorn with a purchase of a drink. Other concessions are available for sale such as snow cones, ice cream, hot dogs, and more (while supplies last.) Please bring blankets and/or chairs for your seating. In case of inclement weather, please call our rainout line at 757-890-3501, extension 10. 

 #2 Fall Youth Soccer Registration Extended 

Soccer

Registration has been extended until Friday, August 6.  You may register online anytime or stop by our office during normal business hours. Parents interested in coaching or assisting this year are encouraged to indicate that in the space provided on the registration form. This is a co-ed league with the following divisions: 6 and under (6u), 8 and under (8u), 10 and under (10u), 12 and under (12u): 14 and under (14u), and 18 and under (18u-must still be in high school). Ages are determined as of September 30, 2021. The fee for York County residents is $55 for a family’s first child and $50 for each additional child.  Non-residents may register for $90 per child. Fees will be waived for York County residents in the leagues (6u – 18u) who qualify and provide the necessary proof of eligibility for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the federal food stamp program. Registration for SNAP-eligible participants must be done in person at the Parks and Recreation office. 

 #3 Culture Day - Senior Center 

Morocco

Join us at the Senior Center of York on Wednesday, August 25 at 1 pm as Elizabeth Land of the York County Library presents a fun and informative pictorial tour of this North African country overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The deadline to register is August 21-limited space. FREE

 #4 Pickleball - Back Creek Park 

Pickleball

Join us on Monday nights 7-9 pm and Wednesday mornings 9-11 am for $2 Pickleball. No registration required. If you do not know how to play pickleball, you may register for one of our FREE Introduction to Pickleball Clinics on Thursday, August 12, 9-11 am and Tuesday, August 17, 7-9 pm. Registration ends 4 days before the clinic date (limited space.)

 #5 Kayking Expedition - Goodwin Island 

Kayaking

This Advanced Kayaker day trip leaves out of Back Creek Park and is offered on Saturday, August 14 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Participants will travel in a guided group, will explore Goodwin Island, and learn about the Chesapeake Bay. Bring a packed lunch, water, water shoes, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and camera. The cost for this expedition trip is $60 per person, which includes a kayak, paddle, and life jacket. Participants must be at least 13 years old (13-17 must be accompanied by an adult). Register by August 7.
