Senior Safety Summit - October 26, 2021
Please join the Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) as they present the 25th Annual Senior Safety Summit on October 26 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1300 George Washington Memorial Highway, Yorktown.
The Summit this year will celebrate “25 Plus Years of Excellence-Keeping Seniors Safe and Living Their Best Life”. Registration costs $3.00, which includes a continental grab-and-go breakfast bag and a box lunch. The Senior Safety Summit brings together seniors from across the peninsula for a morning of engaging lectures. Among the topics are: What’s Trending in Our Community for Communicable Diseases; Theft by Power of Attorney; Roses are Red-Scammers will Make You Blue; The Journey of Raising a Relative’s Child-Exploring the Challenges and Joys, and a fun interactive fitness session.
In addition, there will be a re-signing of the Peninsula Seniors and Law Enforcement Council Cooperative Agreement with the Virginia Office of the Attorney General. This signing commemorates the more than twenty-five years of an active exchange of information between local law enforcement and seniors here on the Peninsula. The Peninsula S.A.L.T. Council has held summits since 1995 to provide seniors with the latest information about scams and fraud, safety, and other timely topics.
A shred truck will be available from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. for secure disposal of papers containing sensitive information. Shredding is a great way to prevent identity theft.
For your safety and the safety of others around you, we require you to wear a face covering, maintain social distancing and use the sanitizing stations.
