Yorktown Celebrates a New Season with
Free Fun for the Whole Family!

September 30, 2021

There are three themed Yorktown Market Days on Saturdays in October that have become community traditions to help kick off a season of cooler weather, changing leaves, and outdoor fun: Fall Market, First Responders Market and Paws at the River! Two of them will include extended hours to give visitors more time to shop and support small businesses.
More than 50 vendors, artists, and food trucks will participate in these special events where shoppers will find seasonal fruits and vegetables; pasture raised beef and pork; farm-fresh milk and eggs; homemade breads and baked goods; nitro brew coffee, raw juices, wine, and tea; handmade soaps and candles and so much more! Artists will be selling stained glass pieces, custom jewelry, paintings, woodwork, personalized caricatures and more.

Fall Market
Saturday, October 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Fall Market brings pumpkins, gourds, apples, mums, kettle corn and other fall-flavored baked goods to the waterfront. Take advantage of the return of hayrides (face masks recommended), a professional pumpkin carving demonstration, hay maze, petting zoo featuring miniature animals, pumpkin painting for kids and several family photo opportunities.
Visitors of all ages are invited to Guess the Weight of the Giant Pumpkin donated by Pumpkinville in Toano. Entries can be submitted the morning of the market via Visit Yorktown’s Facebook page. The first to guess, or get the closest without going over, will receive a basket filled with produce donated by P&D Produce, small pumpkins donated by Allen’s Farm, and a hand-blown glass pumpkin created and donated by Artist Kelsey Finnie. Carrot Tree, located in the Riverwalk Landing Village, will be selling its famous caramel apples and apple cider. The Fifes and Drums of York Town performs at 9 a.m.

First Responders Market
Saturday, October 16 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

It's a morning dedicated to firefighters, sheriff's deputies, 911 & emergency communications dispatchers, public works officials and other first responders who keep the community safe. Citizens are invited to stop by to let them know how much they are appreciated! Participating vendors and artists will be providing discounts to first responders who show up to shop the market that day.
Several emergency vehicles and officials will be on site to educate and answer questions. York County Fire & Life Safety will bring its ladder truck! The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office will also have a patrol car, crime prevention trailer, DARE tent, motorcycles and K-9 unit. Public Works’ large Vactor Truck, used to handle large-scale liquid and sludge clean-up in emergency situations, also plans to be on site. Don't miss this special opportunity to say "thank you" and "we appreciate you."

Paws at the River
Saturday, October 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Paws at the River is designed to bring awareness to animal rescue organizations and to help place adoptable pets in their “furever” homes. On this special day, the market fun  extends down to the green in front of the Riverwalk Landing businesses where visitors will find informational booths and other educational opportunities. Support a small business and stop by FiDough Homemade Dog Treats at the market or Gangsta Dog inside the Riverwalk Landing village. Staff will snap free pictures of visitors and their canine companions (uploaded to Visit Yorktown on Facebook) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with the annual Halloween Pet Costume Parade at 1 p.m. The popular town-wide trick-or-treating event returns this year with several participating businesses participating. A map will be posted both online and on site.
