It’s Going to Be a PAWSitively Awesome Day of Fun
By now, you probably know what your kids are dressing up as for Halloween. Don’t forget the dogs! Yorktown Market Days' annual Paws at the River on Saturday, Oct. 30 is designed to bring awareness to animal rescue organizations, and to help place adoptable pets in their “furever” homes. It’s also a chance to put a fun costume on your pup for beautiful photo opportunities, and to march in our annual Halloween Pet Costume Parade.
On this special day, our award-winning waterfront farmers market will extend down to the green in front of the Riverwalk Landing businesses where you’ll find informational booths and other educational opportunities surrounding the four-legged members of your families.
Support a small business and stop by FiDough Homemade Dog Treats at the market or pay a visit to Gangsta Dog—the newest shop to join Riverwalk Landing—who sells bandanas, leashes, toys, bones, and special dog-friendly treats including cookies, cakes, and donuts.
The FREE digital pet portraits will be taken in the same spot as previous years – with the Coleman Bridge as the backdrop. Pictures will be uploaded to Visit Yorktown’s Facebook page the following week where owners can access them. Photos will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. That gives everyone time to shop the vendors and artists before joining in our annual Halloween Pet Costume Parade at 1 p.m.
There's lots of fun for the kids too, and an opportunity to do a trial run of their costumes. This year we're bringing back our popular town-wide trick-or-treating event at participating businesses, beginning at 10 a.m. Check www.visityorktown.org the week leading up to the event for a map of all the stops. We will also have copies posted on site once you get to town.
Mark your calendars. You definitely don’t want to miss this doggone good time in Yorktown!
