“Christmastide in Virginia” at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown
As the County’s holiday events come to a close, there is still more Christmas to enjoy. You can learn about Christmases past at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Visit the museum December 18-31 (closed Christmas Day) and step back in time for 18th century holiday traditions. Costumed interpreters tell the stories of what Christmas was like during the Revolutionary War and on an 18th century farm. Festive holiday music is presented throughout each day by local favorites. Special holiday programs are also being held at the Jamestown Settlement, focusing on 17th century experiences. Residents of York County get in free! Are You Up to the 2022 Winter Reading Challenge?
Sign-up beginning January 1 for the “Read for a Better World” challenge the runs from January 1 to February 5, 2022. All ages are welcome to join in the Winter Reading Challenge in which participants must read five or more hours. The community goal is a combined 1,000 hours of reading by February 5. Readers keep track of time spent reading through the Library’s Beanstack site or the Beanstack app. Also, you can earn virtual tickets that can be entered into raffle drawings!
