York County's Free Christmas Tree Collection
Begins January 10
December 28, 2021
York County’s free curbside collection of Christmas trees is January 10-14. Trees must be placed at the roadside by 7 a.m. on Monday (January 10) for collection during the week.
All York County residents, including those who do not subscribe to the County’s collection programs, may bring their tree to the VPPSA Compost Facility, 145 Goodwin Neck Road, Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The following are required for curbside collection and drop-off of trees:
- Do not place tree in a tree bag
- Remove all stands, lights, tinsel and ornaments
- Trees larger than six feet in high should be cut in half
This program is available to all County communities, including those that do not subscribe to the County’s regular curbside collection. To participate, these communities must receive approval from their homeowners association or community management group, and trees should be delivered to a designated neighborhood drop-off site in a location accessible by our large knuckle boom trucks.
Following the holidays, many residents have a lot of recyclables. As a reminder, recycling materials must be placed within the container for collection by the automated trucks. The Virginia Peninsulas Public Service Authority and York County Waste Management offer tips on how to maximize the use of your cart during times when you have an abundance of materials for pickup.
