County’s New FY24 Financial Highlight Report Available
York County has released its first-ever Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024. This report is designed to provide residents with a clear and accessible overview of the County’s financial position and key economic and demographic highlights.
The information in the PAFR is derived from the County’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR); redesigned in a format that is easily understandable and accessible to the public. Cabin Fever Concert Series

Cabin Fever Hits a Bluegrass Note in February
Join your neighbors at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, for a toe-tapping good time at the Yorktown Freight Shed! February’s Cabin Fever Concert will be a mix of bluegrass, folk, and gospel music with Bill Jenkins and the Virginia Mountain Boys. Inducted into the Virginia Music Hall of Fame, this group is known throughout the area for their captivating music and unique harmonies. Due to limited space, seats are first-come-first-serve for this event, so arrive early! The concert is free and open to the public.

Open Burning Ban Reminders from Fire & Life Safety
Virginia’s statewide burn ban begins tomorrow (2/15) and continues through April 30. The law bans open-air burning prior to 4 p.m. However, open burning is subject to additional regulations and distances, which can be found by visiting the website for more information. Residents complying with the regulations may open-air burn leaves only from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and must constantly supervise the fire until it is fully extinguished. After April 30, leaf burning is permitted from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with distance and safety precautions. Please note: Open burning is prohibited on local, state, and federal legal holidays, as well as Sundays.

Additional Notes for the Week . . . The York County Historical Committee hosts a FREE lecture at 2 p.m. this Sunday, February 16, at York Hall. Mud & Muskeeters presented by Jeffrey Toalson, speaker and author, is a first-person history of the Civil War on the lower Virginia Peninsula from June 1861 to June 1862.  The Department of Fire and Life Safety is offering a Hands-Only CPR instruction this month in the Upper County. The class is Tuesday (2/16) from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Voter Registrar’s Office in Victory Village Shopping Center, 6614 Mooretown Road, Williamsburg. Please sign up here.
