Communications, Concerts, and Congrats

FlashVote

York County Communications FlashVote Results
From time to time, the County uses a survey tool to gain your valuable feedback on services, programs, and resident requests. A recent poll was conducted on the communications efforts. The results are in! More than half the respondents say the County is doing a good or excellent job in getting the word out and overwhelmingly prefer getting emails. If you aren’t signed up for Citizen News or one of the many other email subscriptions including BOS agendas, events, press releases, and various service alerts, please do that here. Other ways to stay connected include following us on Facebook or Instagram.

Responses from this FlashVote also show a keen interest in receiving construction and capital improvement updates and development news. Did you know that the York County website has a Development Dashboard? That means you don’t have to wait for it to be sent, with one-click from the homepage you can access property data and the monthly Development Activity Report. There is also a link to the Capital Improvement Project Map-just zoom to the area and project you are looking for to access the latest information and updates.

Everything you need to stay up to date is on yorkcounty.gov. If you would like to participate in future surveys and be a part of the FlashVote Community please sign up online.

Cabin Fever Concert Series

Carry Over Concert
Visit Yorktown rescheduled the February Cabin Fever Concert, due to snow, but so far it looks like Mother Nature is going to cooperate for take two. Bill Jenkins and the Virginia Mountain Boys will be in Yorktown this coming Thursday, March 6 at 6:30 p.m in the Freight Shed, for a mix of bluegrass, folk, and gospel music. Inducted into the Virginia Music Hall of Fame, this group is known throughout the area for their captivating music, unique harmonies, and a rollicking good time! Due to limited space, seats are first-come-first-serve for this event, so arrive early. The concerts are free and open to the public.

Restaurant Week

Still Time to Get a Taste of Restaurant Week
Time is running out to enjoy the second annual York County Restaurant Week! Local eateries are offering special menus and discounts until Sunday, March 2. From seafood to Italian and everything in between, York County’s dining scene is the place to be!  See the participating restaurants and specials at visityorktown.org/restaurantweek.

Spring Forward

Spring Forward and Check Those Batteries!
Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. next Sunday (3/9).  This is a reminder to turn your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed Saturday night including clocks that don’t change automatically, such as those found on some microwaves, coffeepots, ovens, etc. This is also a great opportunity to check the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. If you need assistance acquiring smoke alarms for your house, please contact the Department of Fire and Life Safety and ask about the P.A.L.S. (Providing Assistance for Life Safety) Smoke Alarm Program for eligible households. For details, visit the Fire and Life Safety website.
