National Fallen Firefighters

Fire and Life Safety to Honor Nation’s Fallen Firefighters
Sunday, May 4, York County's seven neighborhood fire stations will hold a tribute to fallen firefighters to coincide with the start of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s (NFFF) annual memorial ceremony in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Apparatus at each station will be staged on the front ramp with red emergency lights engaged to recognize firefighters lost in the line of duty, their families, and communities. Citizens are encouraged to observe a moment of silence at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 4. Read more about this national tribute and other ways to participate here.

“This tribute is important to all of us who are involved in fire service—not only to our current and retired firefighters, but to their families, friends, and community members,” said Fire Chief Steve Kopczynski. “We hope our participation in this program encourages others to recognize those lost in the line of duty.”

Community Survey

Community Survey in the Works
York County is gearing up to participate in The National Community Survey (The NCS) developed by National Research Center at Polco. The survey helps capture opinions on the economy, mobility, community design, utilities, safety, natural environment, inclusivity, engagement, and other elements of York County's overall livability. Results will be used to access the County’s strengths, areas of improvement, and what matters most to residents.

Randomly selected households, reflecting the current demographics, are receiving survey invitations, via mail, over the next few weeks. Households that receive an invitation are asked to follow the enclosed instructions and complete the survey. In a few weeks, the survey becomes available to the entire community and all residents will have the opportunity to share their input.
