Motorists can expect full closures on Alexander Hamilton Boulevard and a portion of Cornwallis Road as early as May 12
YORK COUNTY — As early as May 12, contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are scheduled to implement short-term, full road closures on Alexander Hamilton Boulevard and a portion of Cornwallis Road as part of repaving work in Historic Yorktown.
Motorists can expect a full daytime closure of Alexander Hamilton Boulevard in both directions, between George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17) and Ballard Street, for milling and paving. The daytime closure is scheduled to be in place as early as May 12, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. A signed detour will be in place directing traffic onto George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17), Mathews Street, and Ballard Street.
A portion of Cornwallis Road, between Lafayette Road and Ballard Street, will also be closed in both directions for repair work, starting as early as May 12 at 5 a.m. through May 13 at 7 p.m.
Access will be maintained for local businesses and residences.
All work is weather- and schedule-dependent; therefore, this schedule is subject to change.
