The last full week of July is National Moth Week. Help us celebrate and join members of the Historic Rivers Chapter’s Virginia Master Naturalists at New Quarter Park from 9 to 11 p.m. on Friday, July 27, to observe moths and other creatures of the night at this Black Light and Bugs program.
Local naturalist Teta Kain kicks off the evening with a presentation about moths and other nighttime creatures that participants may see. Ms. Kain has been photographing Virginia’s flora and fauna for more than three decades. Her knowledge of plants and wildlife is encyclopedic and a real treat for those participating in any of her programs.
Following Ms. Kain’s presentation, the group will head out to see what’s out and about at night while at the same time learning to identify moths and bugs. Bring your flashlight, camera, and curiosity.
