August Fun at Your Library

The York County Public Library offers a wide variety of programs, activities and fun for all ages during August. All programs are free and open to the public.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ DMV Connect portable customer service center is scheduled to be in the Yorktown Library meeting room from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22. DMV Connect is equipped to process all DMV transactions except vital records and testing.
Join us at the Tabb Library on Saturday, August 25, from 1 to 4 p.m., for a Neighborhood Block Party promoting neighborhood spirit, safety, and environmental awareness! We will have music, games, and entertainment, including Mark Wamplers Band, Jonathan the Juggler, the Teeny Tiny Farm, face painting, and more. York County Fire and Life Safety, D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), Recycling, Parks and Recreation, as well as your Library, will all be there.
The Library is offering a new series of programs for young adults, ages 15 through 25, during August at the Tabb Library. Adults interested in the topics are welcome to attend as well. Register online through the Events Calendar or by calling the Tabb Library, (757) 890-5120. Programs include:
- Career Skills Workshop on August 2 at 6 p.m.
- Vision Boarding on August 13 at 2:30 p.m.
- Bullet Journaling 101 on August 20 at 2:30 p.m.
The Explore @ Your Library series continues in August with a variety of programs for adults. All programs require advance registration. Register online through the Events Calendar or by calling the Tabb Library – (757) 890-5120 - or the Yorktown Library – (757) 890-5207. Programs include:
- Journey through the Photographer’s Lens on August 14 at 6:30 p.m., Tabb
- VHDA First-time Homebuyer Class on August 18 at 10:15 a.m., Tabb, register at www.vhda.com/FreeClass
- Top Travel Tips on August 20 at 6:30 p.m., Yorktown

- Summer Nights Family Story Time on August 8 at 7 p.m., all ages, Tabb
- Games of Skill on August 13 at 2 p.m., ages 8 and up, Yorktown
- Lego Fun on August 16 at 2 p.m., all ages, Tabb
- Kids Create Crafts on August 22 at 2 p.m., ages 5-12, Tabb
- Paws to Read on August 25 at 2 p.m., ages 6-12, Tabb
The Tabb and Yorktown Libraries will be closed Friday, August 24, for staff in-service training. Both libraries will reopen at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 25.
