Parents! Register your child age 6-12 for the County’s first Great Pumpkin Hunt, Saturday, October 27, at 5:30 p.m., at New Quarter Park in the upper County. Children can hike through sections of the park’s trails searching for hiding plastic pumpkins filled with prizes. Registered children will receive a bag already containing an assortment of donated candy and to use to collect the pumpkins and the goodies hidden inside. All registered participants will receive a glow-in-the-dark necklace. Participants in the Great Pumpkin Hunt must register online by Monday, October 15, at www.yorkcounty.gov/parksandrec for a fee of $5.00 per child.
As you check-in beginning at 4:45 p.m. on October 27, you’ll find fun already beginning with a bounce house and games before the pumpkin hunt begins. After the hunt, the park is hosting the outdoor showing of the classic movie, "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." The movie begins at sunset (approximately 6:20 p.m.).
Volunteers are needed to help with set up and to help monitor the trails as the children hunt for the pumpkins. Candy donations will be accepted through Thursday, October 18, at New Quarter Park (1000 Lakeshead Drive, Williamsburg) or at the Parks and Recreation office (100 County Drive, Yorktown). Only unopened boxes or bags of individually wrapped candy can be accepted.
For more information or to volunteer, please call the New Quarter Park office at (757) 890-5840 or email Michael Wilcox at email@example.com.
