The York County Board of Supervisors elected Thomas G. Shepperd (District 5) as its 2019 Chairman during the January 2, 2019, meeting. W. Chad Green (District 3) was elected Vice Chairman.
Mr. Shepperd is currently serving his fifth term on the Board. He previously served as Chairman in 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2015, and Vice Chairman in 2003, 2007, 2011, 2014, and 2018. In addition to his duties as Chairman, Mr. Shepperd serves as York County’s representative to the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization, Hampton Roads Transportation Accountability Commission, and the Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facility Alliance. Prior to his election as District 5 Supervisor in 2001’s special election, Mr. Shepperd served on York County’s Planning Commission, Wetlands Board and Drainage Committee. Mr. Shepperd retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1998 with the rank of Colonel. Currently, Mr. Shepperd serves on the Victory Family YMCA Board of Management and has recently served as Chairman of the Chesapeake Bay District of the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Green is serving his first term on the Board. He serves as liaison to the York County Youth Commission and sits on the Comprehensive Plan Review Steering Committee. Mr. Green is a local attorney and is a lifelong resident of York County.
The York County Board of Supervisors meets the first and third Tuesday of every month (excluding the first Tuesdays in July and November). Meetings start at 6 p.m.
