As required by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) for the Chesapeake Bay TMDL (total maximum daily load) Special Conditions, the County has updated the second phase of its action plan and has posted it for citizen review and consideration.
York County, like other localities subject to these state requirements, must develop strategies to meet mandated pollutant reduction targets and identify measurable goals for reporting purposes. The draft second phase action plan defines the County’s proposed strategies for evaluating watersheds classified as impaired from a pollutant loading standpoint, and identifies potential structural Best Management Practices (BMPs) and programmatic measures that would address Waste Load Allocations (WLAs) and required pollutant reductions. This second phase utilizes the 2010 census area.
The draft plan has been posted on the county’s website at www.yorkcounty.gov
under “County Reports & News.” Comments concerning the second phase action plan should be submitted by Friday, February 15, to firstname.lastname@example.org
. Questions or requests for additional information may be directed to the Department of Public Works at (757) 890-3750.
