Come to New Quarter Park
New Quarter Parks Kayak rentals are now open! Kayaks can be rented for two hour blocks ($10 for residents) or all-day ($30 for residents). We are also offering sunset kayaking tours out of New Quarter Park and Back Creek Park. For more information on our kayak rentals and programs go to www.yorkcounty.gov/parksandrec. There you will find additional information on proper paddling techniques and other safety points. To rent a kayak you must be 18 years or older. All kayakers must be at least 13 years of age. Only single person kayaks are available for rental.
With the start of a new month, make sure to print out the attached calendar and place on your fridge for all the upcoming programs for May and June. Below are some of the programs coming up in the next two weeks.
- May 11th – NASA/Langley Skywatchers Astronomy Club CANCELLED
- May 18th – Bring Your Own Kayak (BYOK) is a FREE kayak tour of Queens Creek, hosted by Bay Country Kayaking. Bring your own kayak or canoe out to “the Point” at 9 am for a 2 hour tour. If you do not have your own kayak you can rent one from Bay Country Kayaking.
- May 18th – The second Movie in The Park at New Quarter Park will be Homeward Bound at sunset. Bring a chair and blanket. Concessions will be available for purchase. For more information on movie dates, locations and titles, go to www.yorkcounty.gov/parksandrec
- May 19th – Due to the weather during the first scheduled race on May 5th, the 1st Race for the Weekend on Your Wheels Youth Bike Race Series will be held at 1:30 p.m. on May 19th, at the overflow parking area. Come test out the youth bike course and sign up for a single race or for all five races. You can also register online at www.yorkcounty.gov/parksandrec.
