York County Waste Management

2nd Annual BugFest, Tire Recycling - June 22

York County Mosquito Control and the Tabb Library invite you to help us celebrate National Mosquito Control Awareness Week (June 23-29) with our 2nd Annual BugFest!  Join us from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, in the Tabb Library meeting room for insect displays, local experts with bug facts, crafts, activities and more!  Weather permitting, we'll have a Tip and Toss scavenger hunt beginning at 10:30 a.m., and bug-themed story time starts at 11:30 a.m.!

Participants include the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office, Master Gardeners, Master Naturalists, ODU Tick Team, Colonial Beekeepers, Hampton University/Christopher Newport University Spider Specialist, and the Butterfly Society of Virginia. Buzz by the Tabb Library for creepy crawly fun!

Also on Saturday, June 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Mosquito Control will collect tires at 105 Service Drive, Yorktown.   The event is free to York County residents for up to five tires per household.  Don’t forget to ask about yard inspections, and find out how getting rid of standing water can help fight the bite!
