Come to New Quarter Park
With graduations over this past weekend, it is officially summer! Before you head out on your summer vacation, with your kids, be sure to stop by the park for three exciting programs.
This weekend at the park
- Saturday, June 22 – Bird Walk – This is hosted by the Williamsburg Bird Club and will meet at the main parking lot next to the basketball courts at 8 a.m. Participants will be led on a 2-hour stroll through the park in search of birds!
- Saturday, June 22 – Walk and Talk – Snakes of New Quarter is a FREE educational program led by biological scientist Tim Christensen. Tim will lead a walk of the park from 10 am to 12 noon to find snakes sunning on rocks and slithering through the forest. By identifying their shapes and patterns, we can discover how to appreciate these creatures rather than run from them. Participants are invited to bring photos they have taken of snakes for identification and discussion.
- Sunday, June 23 – Weekend On Your Wheels Youth Bike Race #4 – The races are open to children ages 3-18, and the first age group race will start promptly at 1:30 p.m. You can register online at www.yorkcounty.gov/parksandrec, or register at the park this Sunday starting at 12 noon.
Note: This week, June 17 to 21, we have had multiple camps running at the park. So, expect a higher number of people attending the park today (Friday, June 21) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
