Orienteering is a sport that requires map and compass skills to arrive at various checkpoints across unfamiliar terrain. The program will be led by Ellen Stefaniak and Alec Richardson, founders of the Central Virginia Orienteering Club in Richmond. Between them, they have 25 years of orienteering experience.
Participants will meet at 10 a.m. at Shelter #4 where the instructors will cover basic fundamentals of using maps and compasses. Then, the groups will work on finding a few locations in the park using their new orienteering skills!
