December "Featured Five" 

 #1 Parent's Day Out 

"Parent's Day Out," Saturday, December 7 from 10 am- 5 pm at Dare Elementary.  If you need extra time for Holiday shopping without the kids or the kids are looking for something fun to do, you do not want to miss out on this new program.  Kids will be able to enjoy skating, recreational games, create a Holiday craft, and enjoy The Nutcracker and The Four Realms along with popcorn.  Register online by December 2. The fee is $20 per child. Limited space is available.

 #2 Grinch's Night Out

"Grinch's Night Out," Friday, December 13, from 6 to 10pm at Charles Brown Park.  Parents, do you need to get some Christmas shopping done, but cannot seem to find the time without the kids?  Sign them up for our new program for children ages 5-12. The kids will enjoy a Grinch-filled time of dinner, games, crafts, and a movie while parents are able to get some of their shopping done!  Please register online by December 6. The fee is $15 per child.  Space is limited.  This event will be held inside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Building at Charles Brown Park.  Charles Brown Park is located at 1950 Old Williamsburg Road, Yorktown.  

 #3 Holiday Make and Take

"Holiday Make and Take," Saturday, December 7, from 10 am to 12 noon at New Quarter Park.  Enjoy making holiday wreaths and baskets out of natural materials by registering now for the annual "Holiday Make and Take."  Park staff will lead this program and participants will also enjoy holiday cookies, hot cider, and cocoa to toast the season!  Space is limited for this FREE program. Register online by December 6.   

 #4 Don't Lose Sight 

A Magical Cirque Christmas

"Don't Lose Sight," Wednesday, December 4, at 10:30 am at the Senior Center of York.  Join us for an informative presentation on the importance of regular eye exams. By detecting and treating eye disease early you can preserve your eye sight and prevent or treat diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and diabetic retinopathy.  In addition, the Wagner Macular and Retina Center will perform free eye exams following the presentation. To register, please call the Senior Center at 890-3444.

 #5 Let's Go to the Movies

"Let's Go to the Movies," Monday, December 9, at 1 pm.  The York County Library and the Senior Center of York will present the Christmas film "Pride, Prejudice, and Mistletoe." This film tells the story of a lady, Darcy, who returns to her home to plan a Christmas charity event with her old rival Luke. In the process, she learns some valuable lessons about what is important in life, such as mending relationships and finding love. This is a FREE event.
