The York County Department of Fire and Life Safety recognizes the importance of establishing a positive working relationship with the media. We believe that our citizens, businesses, and visitors are entitled to receive accurate, timely and newsworthy information from the media.
In 1955, the very first fire pumper to serve the citizens of York County was purchased through funds from a ten-cent fire levy and proceeds from the raffle of a 1954 Dodge automobile.
