Storm to Bring Wind, Rain, and Potential Tidal Flooding

York County staff continue to monitor the track and potential impact this weekend from Tropical Storm Ophelia. Due to the forecast for coastal flooding caused by the storm, the parking lots at the McReynolds Athletic Complex (412 Sports Way) and Chisman Creek Park (1314 Wolf Trap Road) have been opened for the parking of vehicles (i.e. RVs, boats, trailers, trucks, etc.). Citizens are asked to remove their vehicles from these lots by Monday afternoon. Please do not park at County school sites. The following County programs/services are affected by the storm:

  • Yorktown Market Days scheduled for tomorrow (9/23) has been canceled. In addition, the Yorktown Trolley will not be in operation tomorrow.
  • Riverwalk Landing Piers are closed tomorrow.
  • This evening’s Skate, Rattle, and Roll program is canceled. All weekend skating parties are canceled.
  • York County’s parks are closed Saturday and Sunday, and all Parks & Recreation activities are canceled for the weekend.

Updated information will be posted to the York County website and Facebook page throughout the weekend. Read on...
