Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP)

About the Program

The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) also known as Section 8, in York County provides rental assistance to qualified lower income individuals and families, including people with disabilities and senior citizens. The Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) distributes the federal dollars to localities, which include the County of York and the City of Poquoson. Voucher holders pay a percentage of their monthly income toward the rent, with the balance paid by the program directly to the participating private landlords. The York County Division of Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization maintains a waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
