Beautification Committee

Purpose


The purpose of the York County Beautification is to promote a cleaner, more attractive York County and increase awareness of environmental issues among York County citizens. The Committee operates under the trust vested in it by the Board of Supervisors, reporting periodically to the Board as required. (Day meetings, an unlimited number of one-year terms)

Principal Objectives

The Committee works in close concert with the Virginia Division of Litter Control and Recycling. The Committee focuses on principal objectives: •Beautification efforts •Conducting educational programs and publicity campaigns on environmental issues •Conducts awards and recognition programs for individuals or organizations for their work on environmental and beautification projects •Encourages and supports environmental and beautification projects undertaken by various organizations in the County •Offering opinions to the Board of Supervisors on environmental and beautification issues pertinent to York County •Prepares an annual budget and solicits funds from County and State government for the above purposes •Recycling and litter control
