Beginning Monday, May 11, builders, contractors and citizens will have access to a newly enhanced Customer Service Request Portal for use in submitting requests.
This new portal includes greater customer service features, such as the ability for builders and contractors to request inspections, make payments online (coming this month), and track the status of their requests. The portal will operate more effectively on mobile devices and tablets as well, which is a long-desired feature by the community. The ability to conduct more online transactions should provide a more efficient and user-friendly experience for all users.
Builders and contractors who have filed permits with the County previously should have already received instructions on how to request account setup for the portal. There will be a registration link provided online for those who did not receive the instructions. Accounts for builders and contractors should only be set up by one of those request methods.
The upgraded Customer Service Request Portal also provides citizens the option of setting up their own account for use when requesting assistance from Waste Management, Utilities, Zoning/Code Enforcement, and other County offices. Once registered with the portal, citizens will notice new features, such as the ability to follow their service request status, a more user-friendly navigation menu, and the ability to choose the method of communication (phone or e-mail) by the responding department. Any fees associated with the request will be billed through Utility Billing, per usual process.
Citizen requests/reports may be submitted anonymously if no follow up action is required. Please note, if further action is required and the request was submitted anonymously without valid contact information, the request may not be fulfilled and may be closed without resolution.
The Customer Service Request Portal is available on all web pages of the departments of Public Works and Planning & Development Services. Direct access is available at www.yorkcounty.gov/requests.
