York County Parks and Recreation has a hotline notification system for county recreation programs and parks facilities, including the Senior Center of York. In the event of threatening weather, or during its aftermath and recovery period, you can stay updated on the Senior Center’s operating hours and whether or not it is open based on weather, road, and parking lot/sidewalk conditions. Here are some helpful tips to remember in the event of a hurricane, snow/ice storm, or other severe weather system:
Anytime York County offices are closed, the Senior Center will also be closed.
Sometimes the Senior Center may remain closed on days when county offices are either open or opening late. “Check before you come” is the rule of thumb whenever conditions questionable.
CALL the new weather hotline number at 890-3501; once connected, dial extension 36# to listen to any special opening or closing updates for the Senior Center.
OR, sign up ONLINE for the “Rainout Line” weather hotline notification system. You can view the center’s status on your computer and even receive a message alert on your smart phone.
