The Virginia Peninsula Cluster Chapter

The York County Chapter of the American Red Cross experienced its inception during the initial years of World War I (1915) under the facade of Dupont Factory number 37 in Penniman, Virginia.

The Yorktown Chapter later changed its name to the York-Poquoson Chapter of the American Red Cross to better reflect the population served. The Chapter was integrated into the Virginia Peninsula Cluster Chapter which serves more than 231,721 people in the cities of Williamsburg and Poquoson and the County's of James City, York, Gloucester, King William, Mathews, Charles City, Surry and King and Queen.
