Planning

The mission of the Planning Division is to assist the community in defining and realizing a shared vision for the physical development of the County.

The division prepares, maintains, and administers the County’s Comprehensive Plan and is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations on land use and development proposals - typically rezoning and Special Use Permit applications - that are presented to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors for consideration. It also provides land-use, historic preservation and transportation planning support to other County departments.
